Climate-smart Hyllie

NEWS

A hot spot for shopping & events

One of Europe's best shopping centres, a ground-breaking travelling exhibition and an arena that has hosted both Pope Francis and the Eurovision Song Contest. These are just a few of the things to discover in Hyllie, a futuristic and climate-smart district only 3 minutes by train from Malmö city and 10 minutes from Copenhagen Airport.

Right now, there are especially many good reasons to visit Hyllie. Until September 30, the Malmö Fair (Malmömässan) shows the acclaimed, international exhibition ”Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away.”. The shocking story of one of the darkest chapters in human history, with photos, objects and testimonies is literally a ”must-see”. Malmö is the exhibition’s only Scandinavian stop on its tour and since ”Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away.” landed in the city in May, it has touched hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Acclaimed shopping centre

Spectacular and high-class Emporia awaits a stone’s throw from the fair. It is one of Europe’s most highly regarded shopping centres, and this autumn it celebrates its 10th anniversary. On an area the size of 24 football fields food, lifestyle, culture and entertainment are offered in addition to shopping in 150 stores. The Instagram-friendly Umami District food court brings together taste experiences from all over the world (yes, you’ll find Emporia full of Instagram moments!).

Live is life!

Next door to the Malmö Fair and to Emporia lies another giant: the Malmö Arena. Since it was inaugurated in 2008, it has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest, the Junior Hockey World Cup, the Pope, Lady Gaga and Bob Dylan – just to mention a few. At Malmö Arena, the Malmö Redhawks hockey team has its very own ice rink and this autumn the League of Legends Summer Finals 2022, CATS, Queen Machine and many other events will visit Malmö Arena to prove that live definitely is life! 😊

New perspectives

Care for a hot tip – or three? Family-friendly Best Western Malmö Arena Hotel, within walking distance of the Arena, offers a 20 % discount on all nights booked in connection with events. The fact that there is a skybar on floor 16, with a 360-degree view, is yet another bonus. Actually, magical views are a bit of a Hyllie thing. At the Quality Hotel View, specialized in conferences and meetings, the view is at sits very best from the Horizon suite – also on floor 16. Finally, the view from Emporia’s rooftop park offers a lovely panoramic vista of Copenhagen and the Öresund Bridge (and becomes the icing on the cake when you rest your legs after a full day in Hyllie).
