Should the snow be absent (that happens…), there is always Malmö Folkets Park as a mood saver. Right up until February 26, the large city park is dressed in a lavish, playful and cozy winter décor. Take the opportunity to borrow skates and get out on the ice to the rhythm of the music. Or a skateboard, for winter skating in the horse riding stable? Free of charge ‘tis, all of it!
But of course, those who prefer a good deal to skating have no problems passing the time. The After Christmas Sales in lit-up Malmö city and in popular shopping hubs such as Emporia and Mobilia begin on December 26 and continue without interruption except for New Year’s Day.
“Cultourists” are welcomed into the warmth of Malmö Museums, Moderna Museet Malmö, Malmö Konsthall, Funnys Äventyr, Form/Design Center, Falsterbo Photo Art Museum and other oases. A special adventure will take place at Malmö Opera between 31 December and 8 January, with Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker being performed by the Danish Tivoli Ballet. And its scenography and costumes are signed by none other than… Denmarks’s Queen Margrethe. Fairy-talish? You bet!
The new year is of course greeted with magnificent fireworks. A good way to make sure you see them well – or ”just” all of Malmö – is to visit floor number 25 at the Clarion Hotel & Congress Malmö Live. Here, the Kitchen & Table restaurant serves lunch, dinner, cocktails and champagne on the very last day of 2022. In the afternoon, a sparkling New Year’s concert is held by the Malmö Symphony Orchestra in the Malmö Live Concert Hall, and in the evening, Eatery Social Taqueria, another of the hotel’s restaurants, serves a New Year’s dinner with an unmistakable ¡Feliz Año Nuevo! touch to it.
